Rekindling the Creative Spark in the Office
By Kim Norwich
Adapting to virtual and hybrid work has highlighted the challenges and loss of spontaneous creativity that in-person collaboration brings. Returning to the office, even part-time, revitalizes this dynamic, fostering genuine connections and a creative atmosphere essential for innovation and teamwork.
The other day, I was asked what it was like working in our studio before the pandemic—was it the “good old days”?

That question hit home. I realized that, as a team, we’ve adapted to the world of virtual and hybrid working, and for some, this has been during a formative part of their careers. A world of endless meeting software hiccups, the never-ending quest for the perfect solution to collaborate on our creative work, and the constant stream of “do you have 5 min” gchats have become part of our everyday life. We’ve made it work, but what I miss from the “good old days” is the electricity of working together in person.
The buzz of collective energy, impromptu brainstorming, and verbal ping pong that sparks innovative ideas is invigorating. It’s the analog printed pages, whiteboards, sticky note mind maps, and the wordplay that bring everyone and their ideas together. It’s not just about generating cool concepts; it’s about building real connections creatively that makes work feel like play.

I love the desk chats that lead to eureka moments, shared laughter over lunch, the debate over compiling a studio playlist, and the playful chit-chat that ripples throughout the day, all building a strong sense of kinship. The more we connect face-to-face and see each other as real people, the stronger our support becomes, helping us tackle everyday challenges and build creative solutions together.
Whether it’s two, three, or five days a week, heading back into the office is transformative. It rekindles the fun and collaboration that happens when we’re all together, and having a workspace that fosters this is now more important than ever.

It’s not just about creating a visually stunning environment; it’s about cultivating a culture of creativity and collaboration. It’s about designing a space that feels like home—a place where innovation thrives, connections deepen, and ideas flow freely. Branding your environment is more than colour and logos; it’s thinking outside the four walls—a multi-dimensional opportunity to bring your story to life.
So, if you’re leading an organization and haven’t taken the time to articulate your story or create an environment that fosters creative thinking, now is the time. And if you’re looking for a partner on this journey, look no further. Let us dive into the world of storytelling your brand, reigniting your team’s passion, and crafting a space where creativity knows no bounds.
